If this happens and you’re concerned, please contact the New Zealand National Poisons Centre on 0800 764 766. Provide the operator with the product name (Teething Tamer), the brand (The Nude Alchemist), how much was applied, and where it was applied.
The Poisons Centre has a list of Teething Tamer ingredients, which are:
- Prunus armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil
- Ricinus communis (Castor) Seed Oil, organic
- Cera alba (Beeswax), organic
- Fragrance (Parfum) – from natural essential oils only
- Linalool – natural component of the essential oils
If you are outside New Zealand, refer to this international list to find your nearest poisons centre.
Observe your child for any signs of illness. If further concerns arise, contact Healthline at 0800 611 116 or seek immediate medical attention.
Important: Teething Tamer is designed for external use only. While it contains natural ingredients, it’s crucial to follow the application instructions carefully. If you have additional questions about using the Teething Tamer, please don’t hesitate to contact us at hello@nude-alchemist.com.
We list the allergenic components of the essential oils in our products, as required by international labeling standards. However, our exact recipes are a trade secret.
If you have sensitivities to a specific essential oil and want to know if it’s included in a product you’re interested in, please reach out to us at hello@nude-alchemist.com. Be sure to mention the oil and product in question, and we’ll do our best to address your concern.
Our ingredients are listed in compliance with international cosmetic standards.
While the term Fragrance (Parfum) is often used by the fragrance industry to conceal synthetic ingredients, we do things differently. Rest assured that when you see Fragrance (Parfum) on our labels, it only refers to the natural essential oils in the product. This is clearly marked with an asterisk or double asterisks for transparency. Additionally, any potential skin allergen components from the essential oils are listed alongside Fragrance (Parfum) to meet labeling requirements.
Don’t be alarmed by these terms—they are precautionary and part of necessary labeling. In fact, 99% of people experience no adverse reaction to our products.
No, we do not recommend the internal use of any of our products. As with any product, please read the instructions carefully before use.
Any internal use of products containing essential oils should only be done under the guidance of a trained clinical Aromatherapist or appropriate medical professional.
The one exception is our Nipple Nectar. This product contains no essential oils and is made entirely with food-grade ingredients, making it safe to leave on the nipple while breastfeeding. That said, eating it by the spoonful is not recommended—we can’t promise great taste or texture!
If any of our products get into your eyes, please follow these steps:
- Do not rinse with water immediately. Essential oils and oils don’t mix with water and rinsing may spread the product.
- Instead, use a small amount of carrier oil (such as olive oil, coconut oil, or any vegetable oil) on a clean paper towel or cotton pad. Gently dab around the eye area to dilute and remove the product.
- Afterward, you can flush your eye with a saline solution to soothe and remove any remaining traces.
- Avoid rubbing the eye. This can cause further irritation.
If irritation persists or you experience significant discomfort, please seek medical advice immediately.
Nice try, but that’s classified information! After all, we can’t just hand over the secret sauce. We’ve spent countless hours sniffing, testing, and sourcing the crème de la crème of essential oils to ensure only the best make it into our products.
All our essential oils undergo rigorous third-party testing with Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) reports available for every batch. Translation: we guarantee purity and ensure the oils have the right chemical profiles to deliver the therapeutic magic you expect. That’s why our products don’t just smell good—they actually work.
And no, we’re not affiliated with any essential oil brands. We like to keep things independent and top-notch—just the way you deserve!
Oops! Don’t worry—it happens to the best of us. If our product lands on clothing, simply wash it using a mainstream detergent containing surfactants (we recommend Persil for the job).
For a more thorough approach, you can also follow the CCN (Clean Cloth Nappies) protocol for tackling stubborn stains.
We take every precaution to minimize the chances of a reaction by sourcing the freshest, highest-quality ingredients and following strict aromatherapy safety guidelines. Our products are crafted with safe dilutions and carefully chosen oils for their intended use and audience. That said, some individuals—such as babies, children, and the elderly—may naturally be more sensitive to irritation.
To stay on the safe side, please read the application instructions thoroughly and perform a patch test before using any product. Apply a small amount to the forearm and wait 10–15 minutes to check for irritation. If irritation occurs, discontinue use immediately. While we do our best to ensure safety, we cannot guarantee that a reaction won’t occur and cannot be held responsible if it does.
Here’s what to watch out for:
- Irritation: This is typically localized to the area where the product was applied and occurs on first exposure. Symptoms may include a rash (raised, inflamed, bumpy, or itchy skin).
- Sensitisation: This is a rarer, allergic reaction of the immune system. Unlike irritation, sensitisation is not immediate and usually develops after repeated exposure to an essential oil component. Symptoms may extend beyond the application site.
We adhere to international cosmetic labeling standards, listing all known potential skin allergens on our product labels. These allergens are common in the cosmetic industry, and prolonged exposure over time may increase the risk of sensitisation.
Your safety is our priority, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns or questions about using our products.
Any safety recommendations for our products are clearly listed on the relevant product page to help you make informed decisions.
We take extra care when it comes to infants and children. Neonatal skin (up to three months old) is thinner, more sensitive, and significantly more permeable than adult skin, especially in premature babies, whose skin can be up to 2.5 times more absorbent. Combined with their underdeveloped metabolic and kidney function, infants are less able to process and clear substances, increasing the risk of adverse effects.
Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts. In the wrong dosages, by improper application, or with inappropriate oils, they can cause irritation, respiratory issues, or even toxicity. That’s why we carefully dilute our ingredients and follow strict safety guidelines for age-appropriate use.
When using our products on children, always conduct a patch test first. Apply a small amount to the forearm and wait 10–15 minutes to check for irritation. If irritation occurs, discontinue use immediately. Also, please keep our products out of reach of curious little hands!
Your baby’s safety is our top priority, and we’re always here to answer any questions.
Any safety recommendations for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding are clearly listed on the relevant product page to help you make informed choices.
We take maternal safety very seriously. Certain essential oils, while natural, may not be suitable for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to their potential to affect hormone balance, uterine muscles, or milk production. Our products are carefully formulated with these considerations in mind, and any contraindications will be clearly stated.
If you have specific concerns or sensitivities, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider or a trained clinical aromatherapist before use.
