For best practice, while having fun in the sun, remember the saying "SLIP, SLOP, SLAP and WRAP". Along with applying SPF-rated sunscreen, this includes wearing a hat, sunglasses, and protective clothing and seeking shade where possible to avoid direct exposure to UV rays. Special care needs to be taken with babies in the sun, and cover with clothing as much as possible. 

Hot summer tip: Set the alarm on your phone so you reapply sunscreen regularly.

Common questions

Rather than being absorbed into the skin like a traditional chemical-based sunscreen, the mineral UV filters (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide in this case – read more about ingredients here) sit on top of the skin and deflect and/or block harmful UV rays in a similar fashion to protective clothing. Mineral sunscreens with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are widely considered to be the gentlest and safest sun care products.

Firstly, and most importantly, the new formula has undergone rigorous SPF testing in line with the new AS/NZS 2604:2021 standards and has been formulated in conjunction with cosmetic chemists. With a nod to our original formula, it contains most of the original ingredients with the same nostalgic aroma. We have added extra ingredients to: 

  • super-charge the SPF
  • keep the UV filters that protect your skin evenly distributed throughout the formulation, as well as specialised machinery to disperse the actives
  • enhance the skin feel

In addition to the formulation change, we have now made your summer adventures far more convenient by packaging it all up in a tube made from 100% sugarcane.

Love the glitter

We love the glitter added and the subbing of the coconut oil! It's just a tad bit easier to squeeze out. The glitter just adds so much fun! So light and doesn't feel horrible ok the skin. Works so well, haven't ever burnt with it

Not such a fan...

This suncream does work. There has been no sunburn since we've used it.

I purchased this because of the glitter and having a pre-schooler... personally (as reviews are) I feel the glitter chunks are quite large and they don't distribute evenly. Maybe if the glitter was smaller it might look nicer? The cream doesn't rub into the skin and leaves my child white all over. It also feels drying (my child's skin feels very dry to touch which we've never encountered before with another brand's natural suncream we have used for the past 3 years).
Although we're fans of most of the other products you make and sell, the suncream is not one of them.

We understand that the sunscreen didn’t quite meet your expectations, and we hear you! Our formula has been redeveloped twice now in collaboration with professional cosmetic chemists to ensure it remains 100% mineral and free from nano particles. The nature of non-nano mineral sunscreens is that they are visible on the skin initially, but this does tend to soak in after a few minutes.

We’ve also found that this visibility can be helpful when applying sunscreen to children, as it shows exactly which areas are covered and which may have been missed—an important factor in achieving effective protection. If you’re using another natural sunscreen that appears clear on the skin, it’s likely they’re using nano materials to achieve that effect.

In terms of the dryness you’ve noticed, this can sometimes occur with mineral UV filters, as they can have a mattifying effect on the skin. We recommend pairing the sunscreen with a hydrating moisturizer underneath, especially for little ones with sensitive or drier skin types.
